ACTREG ASR 80 AFC S14 – Spring Return Pneumatic Quarter-Turn Actuator (Fail Closed)
The ACTREG ASR 80 is a compact, industrial-grade rack & pinion pneumatic actuator for automating 90° quarter-turn valves such as ball and butterfly valves. The AFC (Fail Closed) spring return configuration is designed to drive the valve to the safe position on loss of air supply, making it suitable for critical shut-off and isolation duties in fuel handling, tanker equipment and general process systems.
Key features
- Spring return fail-safe action (Fail Closed) for defined shutdown on air failure.
- Rack & pinion design for reliable, repeatable quarter-turn operation.
- NAMUR interfaces for direct mounting of solenoid valves and accessories (VDI/VDE 3845 pattern).
- ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 mounting for straightforward valve installation and interchangeability.
- Bi-directional travel stops for accurate end-position setting (typical adjustment range around ±5°).
- Hard anodised aluminium body with durable protective finishes for industrial environments.
- Configurable seal options to suit standard, low-temperature or high-temperature service.
Technical specification (ASR 80 platform)
- Actuation type: Pneumatic, spring return (fail-safe)
- Rotation: 90° quarter-turn (with adjustable end stops)
- Maximum working pressure: 8 bar
- Temperature range (seal dependent): Standard (NBR) approx. -30°C to +100°C; High temp (FKM) up to +150°C; Low temp (silicone) down to -40°C (very low temperature versions available depending on build)
- Mounting standards: NAMUR for solenoid / accessories; ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 valve interface
S14 spring set (ASR 80 / S14)
The S14 spring configuration is designed to provide dependable fail-safe return torque. Spring return torque varies through the stroke; typical values (at 6 bar, 14-spring configuration) are:
- Break / start torque (approx.): 51 Nm
- End / finish torque (approx.): 37 Nm
Note: Actuator sizing should be verified against the valve’s required break/seat torque (including safety factors) and the available instrument air supply pressure.
