LOCTITE® SF 7649 – Anaerobic Primer / Activator (Cure-Speed Accelerator)
LOCTITE SF 7649 is a solvent-based primer/activator used to promote faster cure of LOCTITE anaerobic adhesives and sealants. It’s especially useful on passive metals, inactive surfaces, larger bond gaps, and for low-temperature curing (typically below 15°C).

When would you use SF 7649?
- Cold-site work: helps anaerobic sealants cure more reliably when temperatures are low.
- Passive metals / inactive surfaces: where cure speed can be slower without activation.
- Larger gaps: supports curing when joint fit/gap is less favourable.
- Production / maintenance: when you need faster handling/fixture time.

How to use (typical)
- Clean mating surfaces.
- Apply SF 7649 to one or both surfaces (spray/brush as appropriate).
- Allow the solvent to evaporate fully until surfaces are dry.
- Apply LOCTITE 567 / 577 / 572 and assemble the joint.
Note: Use with good ventilation and follow the product SDS. Activators are flammable solvent-based products. Some regions/versions list NSF registrations—check local requirements if this matters for your application.
