LOCTITE® 567™ – Stainless Steel Thread Sealant (Anaerobic Pipe Seal)
LOCTITE 567 is our go-to stainless steel thread sealant for locking and sealing metal tapered pipe threads and fittings. It is an anaerobic sealant, meaning it cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces (in the absence of air) to help prevent leaks and loosening from shock/vibration.
Why it’s ideal for stainless steel:
LOCTITE 567 has high lubricating properties that help prevent galling on stainless steel (and also aluminium and other metal pipe threads), helping with smoother assembly.
Typical uses
- Sealing and locking tapered metal pipe threads and fittings
- Stainless steel threaded joints where galling is a risk
- General industrial pipe thread sealing where you want a robust, reliable anaerobic seal
Compatible activators we stock (when you might use them)
On passive metals (e.g., stainless / plated surfaces), with larger gaps, or in cold conditions (typically below 15°C), cure can be accelerated using a primer/activator:
- LOCTITE® SF 7471 – activator (assemble within 7 days after activation)
- LOCTITE® SF 7649 – activator (assemble within 30 days after activation)
How it works (in plain English)
- Apply to the male thread
- Assemble the joint
- The sealant cures inside the threaded joint to help seal against leakage and resist vibration loosening
