Choosing the Right FuelPolish System
Purifier or Separator?
CC Jensen FuelPolish systems are offline fuel maintenance units designed to continuously clean stored diesel and HVO. The right choice depends on the fuel condition, tank size and whether water ingress is occasional or recurring.
FuelPolish Purifiers
For routine offline fuel conditioning where the priority is removing fine particles, absorbed water, sludge and diesel/HVO degradation residues.
- Stored diesel and HVO fuel maintenance
- Generator belly tanks, day tanks and bulk tanks
- Optional drip tray and control box configurations
- Best where recurring water ingress is not expected

FuelPolish Separators
For fuel systems where water ingress is a constant or recurring problem and active water separation is required alongside fine filtration.
- Fine filtration plus active water separation
- Integrated water sump and water-level monitoring
- Control box included as standard
- Recommended for higher water-risk tank installations

Stored Fuel Risk
Stored Generator Fuel Should Not Be Left to Chance
Diesel and HVO used for standby generator systems may sit in storage for long periods. During that time, fuel can be affected by water, fine particles, tank debris, microbial contamination, sludge and degradation residues.
If this contamination reaches the engine, it can contribute to blocked filters, injector wear, poor combustion, start failures and reduced generator reliability.
Water
Water can enter through condensation, deliveries, vents, tank fittings or poor storage conditions. It can collect at the bottom of the tank and support microbial growth.
Particles & Sludge
Fine solids, rust, tank debris and sludge can build up in stored fuel and put strain on engine filters, pumps and injectors.
Fuel Degradation
Stored fuel can form oxidation residues, acids and breakdown products over time, especially where contamination and water are present.
Offline Filtration Principle
Continuous Cleaning Without Interrupting the Fuel System
CC Jensen FuelPolish systems work as offline filtration units. Instead of being installed directly in the generator fuel supply line, the system uses its own circulation pump to draw fuel from the tank, pass it through the filter system, and return cleaned fuel back to storage.
This allows the stored fuel volume to be continuously conditioned in the background, helping remove contamination before the fuel is required by the generator.
Independent Operation
The polishing system operates separately from the generator fuel feed, helping maintain tank fuel quality while the generator system remains available.
Whole-Tank Conditioning
Fuel is circulated from the tank, cleaned through the CJC® filter system and returned to storage, improving the condition of the full stored fuel volume over time.
CJC® Filter Insert Technology
Depth Filtration Is What Sets CJC Apart
CJC® filter inserts use cellulose-based depth filtration. Instead of relying only on surface capture, the insert holds contamination throughout the full depth of the media.
This helps remove fine particles, water, sludge, acidity and fuel degradation residues from stored diesel and HVO, while giving high dirt-holding capacity for continuous offline fuel conditioning.
FuelPolish Purifier Technical Highlights
Four Types of Contamination Removed in One Process
The CJC® FPi filter inserts used in the FuelPolish Purifier series are designed to remove particles, water, residual products and bacteria in the same offline filtration process.
Particles
Fine particles, rust, tank debris and other solids are captured by the depth filter media.
Water
The cellulose fibres absorb water from the fuel, helping control moisture in stored diesel and HVO.
Residual Products
Oxidation by-products, resins, sludge and varnish-like residues are retained by the filter media.
Bacteria
Contamination linked to microbial activity is removed as part of the fuel conditioning process.
Suitable Fuel Types
FuelPolish Purifiers are suitable for diesel fuels in accordance with DIN EN 590 and ASTM D975, as well as HVO and FAME/biofuel blends. For unusual fuels, additives or operating conditions, speak to PFS Fueltec for guidance.
Why CC Jensen?
Proven Offline Filtration Technology Since 1953
CC Jensen is not simply a fuel polishing brand. CJC® filtration technology has been developed across demanding oil and fuel applications for decades, including critical power, marine, offshore, wind, mining, industrial plant, hydraulics, lubrication systems and diesel fuel storage.
Depth Filtration
CJC® filter inserts capture contamination through the full depth of the insert rather than only on the surface.
Continuous Offline Cleaning
FuelPolish systems operate independently from the engine fuel line, conditioning the stored fuel before it is needed.
Critical System Experience
CJC® systems are used in mission-critical environments where fuel cleanliness, reliability and uptime are essential.
The Safe Choice for Critical Fuel Systems
For data centres, hospitals, utilities and other standby generator installations, fuel readiness should be treated as an active engineering parameter. FuelPolish systems help operators maintain cleaner, drier and more reliable stored fuel through continuous offline filtration.
Controls & Integration
Simple Local Control with Useful Remote Signals
Where a FuelPolish system is supplied with a control box, the system can provide local operation, fault indication and simple dry-contact signals for connection into wider site monitoring systems.
Pump Running
Dry contact signal to indicate when the FuelPolish circulation pump is running.
System Fault
Dry contact signal for critical fault conditions requiring operator attention.
Filter Change Alarm
Dry contact signal to indicate when the filter insert needs changing due to increased differential pressure.
Control and signalling functions depend on the selected product configuration. Speak to PFS Fueltec for project-specific wiring and interface requirements.
Simpler System Architecture
Fewer Treatment Stages. Fewer Service Points.
Some fuel polishing packages rely on several separate treatment stages to remove particles, water and sludge. CC Jensen FuelPolish systems take a more focused approach: proven offline depth filtration, continuous circulation and, where required, integrated water separation.
Actual service intervals depend on tank condition, fuel quality, water ingress, duty cycle, system configuration and site operating conditions.
